GIE BAADENNA KAFO DIYA: the heroines of territorial equity.

GIE BAADENNA KAFO DIYA was born from a women’s initiative to respond to the concerns of women in the Pont district of Tambacounda and to generate stable and constant income. The DER funding of 23 million CFA through the purchase of a refrigerated truck will allow GIE BAADENNA KAFO DIYA to start supplying and distributing fish in Tambacounda. A city where quality fish at a good price is very rare because of its geographical situation in the south-east of Senegal.

Today, more than 90 women are active in this sector of activity with a multiplication of sales points in the city of Tambacounda.

The MSE buys supplies once a month from all the coasts of Senegal where there are fish. The women of the GIE are now all paid thanks to the activity. In addition to selling the fish in the various sales outlets, they are responsible for unloading, processing and packaging the fish.

The fish is stored in the women’s fish factory, in a villa fitted out in the Pont district to meet the conditions of hygiene and treatment of the fish.

Today, the MSE creates jobs and contributes to the development of a dynamic economy with a strong impact on women in the city of Tambacounda.
